Double Degree

Apply

General Information

POLITEHNICA Bucharest has partnered with leading European universities to offer Double Degree and Joint Degree Programs. These initiatives enable students to develop globally transferable skills while broadening their perspectives through immersion in a different culture.

Upon completion, students receive diplomas from both Politehnica Bucharest and the partner institution.

What is a Double Degree Program?

A Double Degree Program allows students to spend part of their Bachelor's or Master's studies at a partner university, depending on the specific agreement. This mobility typically lasts for two years, and upon completion, students earn diplomas from both institutions.

Some Double Degree Programs are available exclusively at the Master's level.

During the mobility period, students are exempt from paying tuition fees and can apply for an ERASMUS scholarship to help fund their stay.

A Double Degree Program involves two universities:

  • Home University

  • Partner/Host University

Mobility Path

Generally, international students (incoming students) participate in a two-semester mobility during their final year of studies, which corresponds to the second year of the Master's program at POLITEHNICA Bucharest.

Students must select all courses from the respective study year of mobility, except courses belonging to the Educational Sciences and Pedagogical Studies fields.

Application Period

1st of March - 30th of July

Eligibility

Incoming students are eligible if they have completed 60 ECTS credits corresponding to the first year of Master's studies (for example, the second year of Engineering in France).

Students must provide a language certificate of English, demonstrating proficiency at the B2 level of the CEFR.

Students must have successfully passed all exams before the mobility period.

Financial Support

Students can apply for an ERASMUS+ scholarship to finance their mobility.

Tuition fees (if applicable) are paid only at the home institution.

Other fees that may arise during mobility at the host institution will be covered by the student.

Application Steps

  1. Your home university must nominate you via email (international@upb.ro) to the Department of International Relations between March 1st and July 15th

  2. Create an account on this platform and upload all required documents

  3. If your application is accepted, you are going to be notified that the Acceptance Letter has been uploaded into your account

  4. The Learning Agreement is going to be uploaded into your account by POLITEHNICA Bucharest

  5. Download the Learning Agreement, complete and sign it, obtain the signature from your home university, and upload it back into the platform

  6. You will receive all necessary academic and administrative information regarding your mobility via email

End of Studies

The final exam will be held at both institutions. The final exam at POLITEHNICA Bucharest can be held online.

The diploma is going to be issued directly to you (or to an authorized representative with a power of attorney) within two weeks of graduation.

Requirements for Romanian Student Visa for non-EU students

Once you get your letter of acceptance from Politehnica Bucharest, you have to apply for Romanian student visa to your closest Romanian diplomatic missions abroad (Embassy or Consulate).

Student visas may take up to 2 months to process, and are granted for a period of 90 days, with one or more entries.ย

Once you arrive in Romania, and you are enrolled at Politehnica Bucharest, you have to apply for the residence permit atย the Romanian Office for Immigration.ย In order to obtain a residence permit, you have to submit personally some documents at least 30 days before the expiry of the right to stay granted by the visa. You also have the possibility to submit the documents through the online service, available atย Portal of the General Inspectorate for Immigration.

Non-EU students having a valid Study Visa and Residence Permit from another EU state

You may not be required a Romanian study visa if the visa and residence permit from another EU state are valid throughout your stay in Romania (covers your stay entirely) and you have a bank statement with at least 5000 EUR.

You must upload extra documents and POLITEHNICA Bucharest will inform the Romanian Office for Immigration about your arrival in Romania for studies. If the response is negative (may take 30 days), the university bears no responsibility, and you need to apply for a Visa (the process may take 60 days).

If you do not hold the necessary extra documents, you need to apply for a Visa.
